The Boston Landmarks Fee has formally designated Metropolis Corridor as a landmark constructing.
The constructing was conceived as a logo of democratic governance and accessibility, fostering transparency and civic engagement. Its daring design marked a departure from Boston’s conventional architectural vernacular of brick and brownstone, redefining the town’s architectural identification and the character of public area.

Though the constructing was formally devoted in 1969 beneath Kevin White, John Collins was the primary mayor to work within the fifth-floor mayor’s workplace, in 1967 (word the rotary in entrance of Faneuil Corridor):
White, his spouse Katherine and architect Gerhard Kallmann, whose agency submitted the successful design in 1962, for the brand new Metropolis Corridor, at its formal 1969 dedication:
