Officers examine vandalism at state home, suspicious package deal on Boston Widespread – Boston Information, Climate, Sports activities


BOSTON (WHDH) – White and black paint splashed and scrawled throughout the Massachusetts State Home early Wednesday morning introduced dozens of state, native, and federal brokers to Beacon Hill and Boston Widespread.

State police stated that at round 3:30 Wednesday morning, a suspect poured white paint on the gate and spray painted the stone columns on the state home; one of many phrases gave the impression to be “divest”.

Sources informed 7News a park ranger chased the suspect, who left footprints within the white paint, and state police stated the suspect ran throughout the Widespread.

As officers investigated the vandalism, state police stated they obtained report of a suspicious package deal on the Widespread that will have been deserted by the suspect, which, from a distance, gave the impression to be an extended silver cylinder of some type. FBI brokers, some is hazmat fits, took paint samples and labored on computer systems below tents on the Widespread for hours Wednesday.

Governor Maura Healey condemned the vandalism and praised the thorough investigation.

“I believe it’s regular course for this sort of incident,” Healey stated. “And I’ll depart it to legislation enforcement to talk to that. However I respect that each state and native legislation enforcement are investigating this.”

Hours later, investigators left and cleanup crews sprayed the paint away, restoring the scene lower than 24 hours after it was vandalized.
