Washington — President Biden is awarding the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, to Hillary Clinton and 18 others “who’ve made America a greater place,” the White Home introduced Saturday.
Clinton, who served as first girl, senator, secretary of state, and was the primary lady to be nominated for president by a serious political social gathering, “made historical past many instances over a long time in public service,” the announcement mentioned.
Different recipients embrace actors Michael J. Fox and Denzel Washington, U2 frontman Bono, Inter Miami soccer star Lionel Messi and billionaire philanthropist George Soros.
These receiving the award posthumously are former Legal professional Basic Robert F. Kennedy, civil rights chief Fannie Lou Hamer, former Protection Secretary Ash Carter and former Michigan Gov. George W. Romney.
Mr. Biden can also be honoring ethologist and conservationist Dr. Jane Goodall, retired Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson, chef and World Central Kitchen founder José Andrés, dressmaker Ralph Lauren, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, science educator Invoice Nye “The Science Man,” LGBTQ activist and entrepreneur Tim Gill, billionaire philanthropist David Rubenstein and American Movie Institute founder George Stevens Jr.
A number of of the recipients are longtime donors to Biden and the Democratic Celebration.
The awards shall be introduced on the White Home later Saturday.
In line with the White Home, the Presidential Medal of Freedom is “introduced to people who’ve made exemplary contributions to the prosperity, values, or safety of america, world peace, or different important societal, public or personal endeavors.”
The award was established by Robert F. Kennedy’s brother, the late President John F. Kennedy, in 1963.
